Google confirmed plans to extend AirDrop compatibility across all Android devices, marking an expansion of cross-platform file sharing. The update builds on November 2025 AirDrop and Quick Share interoperability, enabling Android-to-iPhone file sharing. Initially limited to the Pixel 10 series, AirDrop on Android is now slated to reach broader hardware via software updates. Code analysis indicated a standalone interoperability app listed on Google Play, pointing to wider support. At a briefing with Android Authority, Eric Kay, Android’s vice president of engineering, said the team is working to roll out the update this year across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The initiative aligns with Google’s effort to simplify switching from iPhone to Android.
